Day 068e: Marching on for Michael … (June 21, 2019)
Flow smoothly thereafter up and into the neighboring town of Auvillar, where Frederic surprises me with another meet & greet. It turns out that fellow pilgrim Michael had forgotten his shoes at the hostel that morning, and Frederic thought I might be willing to carry them in my bag, on the highly probable chance that I would soon be able to give them back to him on The Road. Of course, the answer was “Of course!”, and I placed said footwear into my canvas bag, gave Frederic another heartfelt farewell, and proceeded onward through the misty morning …
“All we have to do is attentively Be; not sit tight and wait for the right moment, but rather realize that every moment is innately & truly Right. Indeed, there is nothing to change by force; we must simply watch the drift of things and choose to move ourselves into the midst of their flow. We look at everything that surrounds us, and choose to cast a fair eye upon it all. If we do that, the opportunity to give or love or serve is always there to be seen, and we quite naturally always know what to do. And yet so many people are too busy to embody this truth. They’re so talented that their opinions have become too important and their schedules have become too full. They’re too interested in themselves to think about the opportunity for Goodness that is always resting right in front of them.” ~ inspired by Haruki Murakami
