A less than Peace-full Prize … (12/10/2009)
Less than 12 days after he took office – despite having shown no real indications of becoming in any way a peaceful leader, Barack Obama was nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Shortly after this quite dubious recommendation, Obama accepted the ward, and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh then declared at a White House state dinner, “We warmly applaud the recognition by the Nobel Committee of the healing touch you have provided and the power of your idealism and your vision.” Of course, shortly after receiving said Peace Prize (on December 10th of that same year), Obama announced he would triple the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and his ominous reign as one of the worst U.S. war-mongers in history began in earnest …
“The Peace Prize helped insulate Obama from criticism as he proceeded to bomb seven nations during his presidency.” ~ James Bovard
“I will accept the award as a call to action, a call to all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century” ~ Barack Obama
