A Prayer for Community … (10/28/08)
A PRAYER for ONE …
My dear Father … my dear Mother;
essence of everyone & everything,
help to free me from my delusions of independence.
And let me remember now that I cannot ever come to solitude when I pray, because even when I am alone with You, I am ever intertwined with all my relatives sentient.
And, in this very moment, allow me to know that, in so reconnecting with those others, You reside anew within me — a Guide for the misty Path; a teacher for the puzzling Lesson; a Friend returning Home.
And please know that I do not come to You to take refuge within your Fortress, as one does when fleeing to the safe exiles of callousness or arrogance.
For I come to You in silence not to wall myself off from my brothers & sisters, but solely to free myself for a time from the noise & glare of a civilization turbulent & troubling.
Indeed, let me remember — in this time of Calm & Oneness, and in all the times when I become again a Follower of your Way of Peace — that there can be no loneliness, but only Love …
Because in those times of humble courage; in those moments when I carry all of Humanity within my Heart, I always mean “We Are” …
… even while uttering “I Am”.
Amen.
