Day 062n: Delving deep into Nowhere … (06/15/2019)

The next village (Saint Jean du Laur) was supposedly just another 5 kilometers (roughly 3 miles) up ahead, and so I didn’t think much of it as I gladly left Gaillac behind. And yet – as was so often the case on the Camino – this promised distance was not much more than a wispy mirage. For I ended up walking – and I walking – and I walking – and I walking; covering many miles over the course of many hours; wondering if I was going to ever reach a town of any kind that night; wondering if I was indeed going to end up sleeping alongside the roadway … :O

“What good is a dream that doesn’t test the mettle of the dreamer? And what good is a path that doesn’t carry us to the edge of our capacity and then beyond? Indeed, a truly transformative journey is the one that summons us to go farther than we had ever imagined possible, just as any truly worthy calling demands that we give more of ourselves than we knew there was to give.” ~ inspired by Michael Meade
