Day 49d: The Here on the Horizon … (06/02/2019)
And then it happened: I finally walked far enough to allow Le Puy en Velay, the first of my pilgrimage’s three primary European waystations, to come into at least a known-yet-hazy presence upon my clearly seen horizon … 🙂
“Sometimes, when one is moving purposefully through an utterly expansive landscape, an overwhelming hallucination comes over the senses; inspiring one to feel that one’s separate self is slowly being unraveled. The surrounding space is so vast in such moments that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep a balanced grip on one’s own individual being. The mind swells out to fill the entire landscape, becoming so diffuse in the process that one loses the ability to keep it fastened to the physical body. In the movement of the sun and the clouds across the sky, one deeply perceives something one hardly knows how to name; a huge, all-encompassing Oneness; a vast and cosmic Love.” ~ inspired by Haruki Murakami
