Day 48f: Filling UP on Kindness … (06/01/2019)
Very shortly thereafter I walked by a quaintly gardened home and waved to the residents (Jean & Genevieve) sitting therein. They waved enthusiastically back to me so I thought I would call through the open windows and ask for a glass of water before heading along my way. Well, Genevieve got right up from her breakfast table when I did so, came out right away to greet me more personably, heard a bit about my Walk, and then invited me straight away inside ( :O ) … I sat there with her & her husband (who was preparing to walk the Camino himself later that summer) for quite awhile, talking amiably about all sorts of weighty matters*, and then Genevieve gave me 2 apples and an Animal Rights notepad (which I used often over the next several weeks to give strangers & fellow pilgrims alike my contact information) and they both then gave me a hearty hug and then I headed back out onto The Way … 😀 😀 😀

*e.g. Kindness and its intimate relationship to inner peace (Mere niceness won’t cut it!); inner peace and its intimate relationship to communal/world peace (Politics & politicians won’t achieve it!); and veganism and its intimate relationship to Kindness & decency (Eating “only a little meat” & even vegetarianism just can’t enliven it!) … 😉
