Day 48d: A seemingly unrequited Faith … (06/01/2019)

Even though I regularly (and gratefully) entered many dozens of churches (and walked up to &/or around many hundreds more) along The Way, it was rare that I would regret not being able to enter one that had its doors closed to me. This church (found at the center of Montfaucon), for whatever reason, was one of those exceptional encounters, and I found myself lingering on its grounds for no particular reason — glancing often at its doors to see if they might indeed open, even while knowing full well that they wouldn’t do so until many hours later that day … Hmmmmm ( :O )

P.S. Even though I was not able to enter that day, this is what the inside of the church apparently looked like …

Then again, maybe what I was intuitively yearning to experience were the 12 panels painted by Flemish artist Abel Grimmer — one of which (titled “July”) pictured below — that were hanging in the church at the time …
