Day 45k: The long road Home … (05/29/2019)
I had been carrying this “All roads lead Homeward” stone for many days by this point — a point when I finally came to a profound and most important realization: the realization that while it is true that there are many roads one can take away from Home, there is only one single Road — the Soul-full Road within — that returns to the same. And so it was that the next path-side shrine was found, and my special stone was given up for a far greater Good… 😉
“The purpose of a pilgrimage is about setting aside a significant period of time in which the primary focus becomes the matters of the Soul. Many pilgrims falsely believe that their pilgrimage is about going away from all that is previously know, and yet in reality it isn’t. In truth any pilgrimage that hopes to succeed must be about one thing and one thing only — not the many roads that lead away to increased excitement or enhanced learning or new adventures, but rather the single Road that leads back to one’s Home of homes within. As such, pilgrimage is more properly seen as a journey made by those who have long since ventured away from themselves, and who are now setting forth to journey back to who they truly are: to who they were as toddlers, and to who they could become again once more.” ~ inspired by L.M.
