Day 44o: A most nuanced Nunnery … (05/28/2019)
Sister Marie Celine soon returned with the abbey’s Mother Superior, who — after listening herself to the overarching tale of my Walk, along with a brief explanation as to why I am doing so with no money, no tent, no sleeping bag, and no raincoat — took me across the street and set me up in what amounted to be one of the abbey’s garden sheds. Marie Celine then brought me a few blankets, a hot water cooker, some packets of chicory root “coffee”, and a bit of fruit and bread … :O … I thanked them both profusely for their kindness, set up my impromptu bedroom, and then went out onto the neighboring veranda to watch in grateful wonder as my next glory-filled horizon was gently graced by my life’s newest and most glorious sunset … 😀
“If any want to become my true followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and emulate my life. For those who wish to save their own lives will surely lose the same, while those who willingly give their lives for the benefit of others will be given the same in full.” ~ via Jesus Christ (see Mark 9:40 + Matthew 24:12-14)
