Day 44l: A harmony of Desire … (05/28/2019)
And once more on this particular day I was confronted with the Camino’s bizarre sense of humor — the almost cruel way it taught the lessons of acceptance and attachment and humility and presence. For on this day its path led me on & on & on, seemingly without end — ever in sight of various villages, and yet ever veering teasingly away from the same just as they came more fully into view. Will I be able to pause in Montseveraux? No, I will not … Might I rest for awhile in Les Grandes Bryeres? Again, not today … And how about the cool confines of lovely Bellgarde? A form NO once more. And so upward and onward I trudged, along a day’s stage that seemingly knew no end. Where was the promised destination of St. Romain de Serieu? I should have crossed its welcoming threshold hours ago, and yet all I am given is dust and trees and sweat and heat … 🙁 :O 😉
“Your life is ever shaped by the ends you live for. Indeed you are ever the re-made image of all you currently desire. As such, to harmonize your life you must harmonize your desires. And to harmonize your desires, you must spiritualize your desires. And to spiritualize your desires — you must desire to live without desire.” ~ anonymous
