Day 39g: Capturing the nature of LOVE … (05/23/2019)

I flow slowly onward, up and down and up again, through the village of Vertrier, and into the smaller village of Le Moulin (or was it Lucey?), where I see a sign on a garden gate advertising a local art gallery therein — one that was ostensibly open to the public to boot … Not needing any more encouragement than that, I entered the yard, told the proprietress (Cloe) of my Mission, and asked for a place to sit and a glass of water. To my great surprise and gratitude, Cloe — who also happened to be the artist in residence there — offered me far more than mere rest and hydration; bringing me not only a glass of cold water but also a coffee and some vegan biscuits, and then giving me a private tour of her atelier — even though the same was not actually open to the public that day … :O 😀

“Like LOVE, to capture something of the nature of pilgrimage the precise directions are often awkward to find, for the simple reason that we are often not sure quite why we started the journey — much less exactly what it is we’re looking for. And yet (also like LOVE) setting forth boldly on that adventurous path means that what we seek will indeed inevitably be found. And once we find it (or once it finds us), mere words cannot hope to accurately convey what has happened to us — much less what it is that we have in truth discovered. And yet once we find that newer Truth, it becomes an indelible part of the journey that continues.” ~ inspired by Richard Foster
