Day 32h: By far the best Sandwich … (05/16/2019)
I walked all the way through the town of Gland into the industrial outskirts on the far side of the same and was feeling pretty worn down, very hungry, and extremely thirsty. The buildings here were all office-park-esque, and I was less than hopeful that sustenance of any kind (liquid or edible) would be found nearby. And yet it was just as clear that there was nothing else on the horizon, so I entered one of these last vestiges of local civilization, and was joyfully surprised to find a small deli (named ‘Les Delices du Traiteur’) on the ground floor servicing the employees of the companies on site … :O
So I walked into this cozy little establishment somewhat tentatively, told co-owner Stephanie a bit about my Peace Walk and asked for a glass of water. She kindly offered me a sparkling version of the same and as I was thankfully imbibing her most gracious gift the customer who had been behind me in line (and who had overheard about my Journey) walked over and offered me the side of bread that had come with her meal to boot … 🙂
Stephanie then left for a bit and left her husband, Farid, in charge; an equally kind man who asked me if I would like some food on the house ( :O ) … I told him that anything vegan would be most appreciated indeed, and he then proudly made me one of the best sandwiches of my life; an Algerian roasted veggie baguette that was as delicious as it was fulfilling … 😀 😀 😀
