Day 28b: Daring the life of LOVE … (05/12/2019)

“At its deepest level, Enlightenment is man’s release from all self-incurred tutelage. Tutelage is one’s inability to make use of understanding without direction from another, and self-incurred is this tutelage when its origin lies not in a lack of reason but rather in a lack of the courage needed to use it without another’s guidance or persuasion. Some would say that this highest Enlightenment comes from adopting the motto of Sapere aude! — ‘Dare to be truly Wise!’ … And yet I wholeheartedly disagree. For the only creed that can ever hope to bring forth any semblance of real Enlightenment is nothing short of the one announced by a very different commandment: Aude caritate! — ‘Dare to boldly Love!’ … So have the humility to fully embrace your deepest reason, my Friends – and then have the daring boldness to repeatedly act accordingly. For this & this alone can lead to a life of Joy & Peace; and this & this alone can lead to a life of LOVE.” ~ inspired by Immanuel Kant
