December 06 … Refreshing your Routine
In bed this morning after waking, interlock your fingers and notice which thumb is “on top”. Let your thumbs switch places and see how it feels. Next, get up and get dressed by putting on your shirt and socks before your underwear and pants. Finally, sit down and cross your legs the way you normally would. Now let your legs switch places as well and sit there for a bit … So much of our day is filled with thousands of small habits, and while altering them might not seem important, doing so regularly & consciously is an invaluable aid to the release of the ego-self that is controlling many of our unhealthy choices. So take a few moments and write down your general everyday routines today. Then, next to those notes, jot down ways that you can easily alter them (e.g. perform tasks in a different order, perform them with your non-dominant hand, do the opposite, don’t perform them at all, replace them with another activity, etc.) … Put this New Routine into your pocket — and go forth today and enliven it!
