Page 102 … the coming of a Godly Sorrow

“When we sin, the Spirit will convict us of sin such that a godly sorrow will result.”

This is a reference to 2 Corinthians 7:10-11, which states in full – “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.  For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment!” … And once again thereby, we see you referencing a verse that is far better applied to yourself than the ones you wish to condemn therewith (in this case, homosexuals).  For it is your arrogance and your bigotry in condemning the sins of homosexuals that is manifesting itself in the “zeal” and the “indignation” with which you & yours are attempting to “clear yourselves” of the same!  And indeed, this is exactly the kind of hypocritically callous & pharisaical behavior that Jesus railed against in his ministry … So please, my Friend, choose to heed his words instead – and turn from your ways of pride & intolerance!

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.  For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.  Why do you notice the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite!  First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s  … Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees.  You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become clean … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom … Let [she] without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-5 + Matthew 23:25-26 + Matthew 18:3-4 + John 8:7)
