Heck, Lucy, Jesus would say that there has already been a HUGE falling away from The Way of Christ for the last 2000 years! Indeed, it was not Jesus who founded the modern-day Christian church, but Paul … Consider the following biblical Truths:
*It was not Jesus who said that we are to worship him as the only Son of God (see Matthew 10:18, John 5:41, John 7:16, John 8:50-54, John 12:44-47, John 15:8 et al), it was Paul who did so (see Romans 3:21-25) …
*It was not Jesus who said that only a few were eligible to enter his Kingdom (see Matthew 7:7, Matthew 18:14, Mark 9:49, Luke 3:6, Luke 20:38, John 1:9, John 6:45, John 10:16, John 12:32 et al), it was Paul who did so (see Romans 5:18-19, Romans 10:9-13, 1 Corinthians 9:22, 1 Corinthians 15:21-23 et al) …
*It was not Jesus who said that Heaven was a place where the “saved” go for eternity after they die (see Luke 17:20-21, Matthew 10:7 et al), it was Paul who did so (see 2 Corinthians 12:1-10) …
*It was not Jesus who said that the “unworthy” would burn forever in a post-mortem torture chamber called Hell (Rather, Jesus only referred to “Gehenna” in the present tense; the state of suffering all sinners experience during & after their self-centered deeds – see Matthew 5:22-30, Matthew 13:38-42, John 5:22, John 8:15, John 12:47 et al), it was Paul who did so (see 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10)!!!
