Pages 427-428 … the actual problem
Once again, as if you hadn’t been informed enough already, you then go on to make the same mistake you have made so many times already in this thread – claiming that, “The Old Testament law clearly prohibited homosexuality.”
And once again, my dear, I will publicly remind you that this is statement is biblically UNTRUE, and I will openly beseech you once again – if you remain inclined to stand by this erroneous claim – to prove otherwise. Indeed, this time I will go so far as to gently dare you &/or yours to quote me even a single verse in the entire Bible that condemns homosexuality itself … Go ahead … I’m still waiting … And I’ll be waiting for a loooooong time too – because such a verse DOES NOT EXIST!
Is homosexual lust condemned as a “mortal sin” in the Bible, Lucy? Yes it is – and so are dozens of other forms of lust; some of which are far more prevalent & far more insidious than homosexual lust ever will be … Homosexuality itself, however, is simply not a sin – at all. Nope, lust is the problem here, my Friend, and if lust is the problem, then lust should be the primary focus of your Facebook posts, not homosexuality.
*Indeed, since lust is the problem, why not post about Leviticus 20:10-12, where God states that both parties to any act of adultery are to be punished by death (while remembering again that Jesus – in Matthew 5:27-28 – made it very clearly that even thinking about having sex with someone other than your spouse counts as adultery)?
*Since lust is the problem, why not post about Deuteronomy 22:20-21, where God states that a woman who does not bleed while &/or after losing her virginity is to be punished by death (a law which actually condemns the vast majority of non-virgin women to this day)?
*Since lust is the problem, why not post about Deuteronomy 22:23-27, where God states that all virgin rape victims are to be punished by death?
*And since lust is the problem, why not post about Leviticus 20:18, where God states that all men who have sex with a menstruating woman are to be punished by death?
Indeed Lucy, your dramatic inconsistency in this matter does indeed expose an area of bigotry that is blemishing your otherwise perfectly Loving Soul; a blemish that reflects a hypocrisy so flagrant that it is almost screaming for your repentance – a hypocrisy so dramatic that your own Lord & Savior is almost begging you from the Gospels to amend your judgmental ways … May you find the humility to hear his pleas, and the courage to answer their Call.
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2 + 18:3-4)
“You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 23:25-26)
“All who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 18:14)
“Let [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 8:7)
“If any want to become my true followers, let them first deny themselves, and then take up their cross … and then follow me.” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 9:23)
