Pages 450-452 … on mixing Lust & Love
Cyrus: Scaughdt, you are mixing up LOVE and LUST … We are suppose to love each other, not lust for each other. I love my little dog, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to have sex with him … I also have a lot of friends whom I care for a lot, and yes they have a piece of my Heart so yes, you can say I love them — because I care for them just like Jesus did when he was here. I’m doing just what God wants me to do: I love my fellow man. And when they ask for help, I am there for them. To me it is the Love of God that makes us care for others, not our lust for them. Lust is between a man and a woman; that’s why God created man, and from him — a woman, so they might have children and multiply.
Now I’m not saying I hate people who are gay. In fact, I have many friends who are gay. They are nice people and if they need me for anything I would help them. I don’t treat anyone any one different from the other. I’m doing the best I can and living my life the way God wants me to … And yet when you go and say the things you do, you’re just twisting it around to please yourself — or to try and get others to believe the way you do. That’s up to them, but as for me, I’m going to keep living my life as my heart leads me to where God wants me to be.
Scaughdt: Actually, Cyrus, I am very clear on the distinction between lust & LOVE … Indeed, it is actually the others in this thread; those who are condemning homosexuality (or who are denigrating caring homosexual relationships – or who are criticizing homosexual hand-holding – or who are forbidding homosexual cuddling – or who are denouncing homosexual marriages – or who are rebuking homosexuals who are preaching the Word of God), who have completely confused the two!
All I’m saying here, my Friend, is that if Christians truly adore Jesus (and his Father) as much as they say they do, then it simply makes since that they would follow his advice – namely, that they would strive to keep their mouths shut about the sins of others, and strive to keep their Hearts humbly open to those others instead …
And I openly admit that you & yours might be right about God being a bigot – that maybe He does hypocritically discriminate against gays, and that maybe He does damn them to an eternity of suffering for the sinful desires that He placed within them in the first place. And yet such a God is most definitely and quite clearly not the Father of Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:48 + John 5:22 et al), and such a God is definitely not a God who should be worshipped … Rather, my dear Friend, as every man & woman with a functioning conscience innately knows (see John 14:20-26 + John 15:26), such a God is a God who needs to be courageously and devoutly opposed.
And just think, the heavenly Father of Jesus Christ is already doing that opposing – not only in the pages of your very own Bible (as I have quite thoroughly shown in this very thread), but also everyday in your own everyday life! So why not make Jesus happy, my Friend? Why not abandon the Old Testament’s ways of fear & hatred & unjust intolerance, and join forces with Jesus’ all-Loving & non-damning Father instead?
Peace to you & yours!
Beth: Scaughdt, read your Bible! God has already passed judgment on this sin — along with other sexual sins … All brother Cyrus is saying is “love the sinner not the sin” … GOD condemned homosexuality … Read your Bible!!! It is an abomination, so don’t keep attacking Christians because they hold to the WORD of GOD!!!
Scaughdt: Thanks for your comment, Beth! While I in no way proclaim to be an authority on such matters, if you would simply go back and read through any significant portion of this thread, you would know that I am not necessarily the one herein who needs to read their Bible …
And please note as well that I am not saying that a God of wrath & judgment doesn’t exist in the Scriptures. He (or more accurately “they”*) most certainly does … I am simply offering the equally valid (and actually irrefutable) Truth that there is indeed another God in the Scriptures as well – namely the God; the all-Loving Father of Jesus Christ. And I am simply encouraging all Christians to see this Truth; to test it for themselves (the Fruits of the two interpretations are not even close!), and then to choose Jesus’ heavenly Father of Love & Mercy over Paul’s imposter “God” of wrath & judgment … Peace to you & yours, my Sister!
(*Note that the word written as “God” in most English translations of the Bible (from in Genesis 1:1 all the way through Exodus 3:14) is actually the Hebrew Elohim; a word which actually means “GodS”, being the plural of eloah. As such, this term more accurately refers to the fallen angels who spend the vast majority of their time in the Scriptures posing as God — doing their best to lead humankind astray; a fact which explains why “God” seems so immorally bipolar in the Old Testament.)
P.S. You cannot truly love a sinner by openly condemning him or her as the same. Love doesn’t work that way, Beth … And that is not merely my opinion. That is the opinion of Jesus Christ himself, who very clearly wanted those who follow his way to keep their mouths shut and their Hearts open when it came to sinners (Matthew 7:1-5); to spend their time cleaning their own dirty cups before criticizing the smudges on the cups of others (Matthew 23:25-26)!
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2 + Matthew 18:3-4)
“All who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted” ~ Jesus Christ (Luke 18:14)
“Let he [she] who is without sin cast the first stone.” ~ Jesus Christ (John 8:7)
“You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 23:25-26)
P.P.S. And as far as the act of homosexual sex being an “abomination” is concerned, please consider the following: “There are [seven] things that the LORD strongly dislikes, seven that are an ABOMINATION to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood; a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” ~ Proverbs 6:16-19
Thus, it now seems pretty obvious that if Biblical “abominations” like homosexual sex are worthy of special condemnation, then you & yours – and all others like you who are publicly & falsely accusing homosexuals of living lives based in lust instead of Love – need to cleanse your own “abominations” before criticizing theirs, yes?
