Page 518 … A most gentle Damnation

“I will speak of the Love that God has for them, and I will not be unkind to them in any way.  They are free to live however they want.”

First of all, Lucy, it doesn’t matter if you are gently stroking someone’s head while you are slitting their throat; you are still murdering their body – and it doesn’t matter if you are gently and “respectfully” telling another that they are of an inferior (if not spiritually damned) race or gender; you are still “killing” their identity … As such, it also doesn’t matter that you are “kindly” telling homosexuals that they are dammed to Hell forever by the God you openly support & adore; as you are still denigrating their sense of Self-worth and Self-respect thereby … Basically, it doesn’t matter how sweetly you hide your vitriol, my Friend – be it verbal or physical – violence is violence either way … and violence is not The Way of Christ!

Secondly, your statement here is in & of itself pathetically weak, as you need to either have the guts to do your condemning of others yourself, or you shouldn’t condemn them at all.  Blaming your Bible &/or your God is not only cowardly, but it is also illegitimate – especially now that I have shown conclusively in this very thread that there is an equally valid way to read the Scriptures, and an equally valid way to be a “good Christian”; a way that doesn’t require you to publicly criticize anyone for any of their sins or any of their misdeeds.

Thirdly & finally, my dear Friend, if we are going to be honest here, we must both realize that it is you who are choosing to read the Bible over-conservatively – that it is you who are choosing to deny the teachings of Jesus Christ thereby – and thus that it is you who are choosing to do your condemning of homosexuals – not the Bible, and not God, and certainly not Jesus Christ!

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom … I give you a new commandment: that you Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also should you Love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you show Love towards one another.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2 + Matthew18:3-4 + John 13:34-35)
