Page 569 … Caring for gays
“I don’t think you care for [homosexuals] at all, because you would have them living in their sin. If you were a true follower of Jesus you would lead them out of sin.”
No, my dear Lucy, this is actually not accurate at all! Yes, this is what the true follower of Paul would do to homosexuals, and yet it is most certainly not what a true Follower of The Way of Christ would ever do for them …
You see, we true Followers of Christ love all people humbly – sinners & saints alike – and we do so by Caring for those others with gentle acts of Kindness, while keeping our mouths shut about their sin &/or their Salvation (unless asked our opinion about the same, of course) … Indeed, due to the nature of humans to instinctively reject all forms of direct criticism, remaining humbly silent while unconditionally Caring for others is actually the only way to effectively “lead others from sin” anyway … And I believe that this is precisely why Jesus told all of us – you & yours included – to avoid openly judging the shortcomings of others.
“Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.” ~ 1 Peter 5:3
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged … Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own? … You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor’s … You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also then become truly clean.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:1-2 + Matthew 23:25-26)
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them instead to infants … Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Indeed, whoever becomes humble like this young child is the greatest in the Kingdom” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:25 + Matthew 18:3-4)
