Page 591 … Renewing our minds in Christ

“Let us renew our minds in Christ.”

Well, I will readily admit that this is a start, my Friend, and a very good start indeed.  Of course, to “renew our minds in Christ” we must first humble those minds – we must drop our pretentious convictions as to what we have been taught about the Bible in our youth, we must have the strength of faith to “test the Scriptures” anew, and then we must have the courage to enliven the ones that bear the Fruit of the Spirit (see 1 Thessalonians 5:21 & Matthew 21:43 + Galatians 5:22-23) – something we can only do by replacing our proud judgments of the sins of others with humble acts of service for them.

Indeed, the only way to truly “renew ourselves in Christ” (see John 14:20) is to humble our selves (see Matthew 18:3-4) – to purposefully dismiss all that we have been taught that contradicts the teachings of Jesus, and then to boldly abide in his Way – and his Way alone – instead (see John 15:10-12).

“Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone … I do not accept glory from human beings … Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in Him who sent me … If any want to become my disciples, let them first deny themselves, and then take up their own cross, and then follow ME.” ~ Jesus Christ (Mark 10:18 + John 5:41 + John 12:44 + Matthew 16:24)
