Page 682 … a Loving Reproof
“Reproving sin in a loving manner demonstrates true concern and compassion for the individual.”
I actually agree with this statement, my Friend. Indeed, that is exactly what I have been doing for you & yours in this very thread! … And that is precisely what you & yours have not been doing with homosexuals. Indeed, it is impossible to lovingly tell anyone that they are damned to Hell for eternity merely for being true to how they were born, just as it is fully impossible to be truly loving towards anyone while openly worshiping a God who you believe will enforce that damnation … And this is exactly what you & yours have been doing for some time now, Lucy.
As such, if you truly had concern and compassion for homosexuals, you would be treating them with humble Kindness like Jesus commands, not condemning them for not sharing the same interpretation of the Scriptures as you.
Lucy #430: Then you go on to claim that, “Christians are called to be salt and light to the world. As such, we must take a bold stand for truth, reprove sin, and share the Gospel with everyone, including those who are involved in homosexuality.”
Fair enough, my Friend, and yet if you truly would stand for Truth, you would not be espousing beliefs that are bigoted (like condemning homosexuals merely for being born homosexual) or making protestations that are hypocritical (like condemning the sin of homosexual lust while ignoring other mortal sins that are far more prevalent, and while still being a mortal sinner yourself – see Matthew 18:3-4) … And if you truly were about reproving sin, then you would not be inventing sins with which to condemn others (Again, according to the Bible that you profess to follow, homosexuality itself is not a sin!) … And if you truly wished to share the Gospel – the Gospel; Jesus’ Gospel – then you would actually do so.
And yet you are not doing so, Lucy … You are not doing any of these things at all. Instead, you are cherry-picking from outdated Old Testament laws – laws that Jesus came to openly dismantle & aggressively amend – and using them to condemn a group of people whose sexual attractions happen to make you uncomfortable … And while it is understandable that you would want to do so (given the fact that you were probably indoctrinated with your conservative beliefs at a very young age), it is patently un-Christian for you to do so as well (at least according to Jesus Christ) … Indeed – specifically regarding salt, Jesus himself noted that we are all going to be “salted” (Mark 9:49), that we are all going to reap what we have sown (and only what we have sown – Luke 6:38), and that we are all to therefore keep our criticism of the sins of others to ourselves and focus on cleaning our own cups instead! … Consider:
“You hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup [of others], but inside are full of greed and self-indulgence … First clean the inside of your own cup, so that the outside might also become truly clean.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 23:25-26)
