How can I prevent identity theft? … (04/12/08)
As far as preventing identity theft is concerned, I only offer the following:
1) LET GO OF YOUR FEAR! … Whatever you are afraid of is strengthened and will more than likely appear in your life in one form or another. To aid in this process of detachment, envision a ‘worst case scenario’ and then realize a) that you will survive it anyway b) that your Happiness is allWays your choice regardless & c) that tough times will only make your subsequent/concurrent acts of service that much more Power-full (and your Joy that much more complete) …
2) Cease using credit card(s) as soon as possible and flow into using cash &/or checks … Once your credit is balanced, cut up your cards and cancel the accounts. Make this a priority!!! — Keep one new card just for plane tickets and monitor its use …
3) Withdraw the money you would normally use in one month and keep it in a special place in your apartment … No matter what happens, experience has shown Me that if you can ‘get by’ (i.e. relax and just LIVE) for one month, you will adjust to any hardship …
4) Build/strengthen your own intimate Community of Friends … Money is ‘on its way out’ anyway, and interconnected Community (kindness, barter, self-sustainability, etc.) is back on its way IN as the primary means for our survival as a species …
5) Finally, and most most most importantly, engage in frequent, random acts of selfless kindness … Regardless of your financial situation, the more ‘Good Deeds’ you Do, the happier you’ll Be — And the Happier you are, the less likely the forces of fear will seek you out!!!
