Conventional wisdom says that “The most important quality in any relationship is acceptance”, and yet the Soul knows that acceptance can mean many things. It knows that the “acceptance” that looks the other way while our Beloved harms another and the “acceptance” that coddles the Beloved while he or she self-destructs are actually deadly to all forms of Partnership. It knows that real Acceptance — the kind that sustains Love to every end — is a giving verb. It knows that real Acceptance has nothing at all to do with “balancing give & take”.
