Faith is a verb … (05/27/13)

“You cannot devote your life to an abstraction. Indeed, life always shatters each & every abstraction in one way or another, including the concepts of ‘faith’ & ‘belief’ & ‘salvation’ & ‘truth’.

If God — or the numinous, or the transcendent, or the Divine — is not alive in the very fabric of your existence; if you do not long for Him, and seek Her, and find IT in the smallest details of your daily life, then your religion — regardless of the form it takes and regardless of the deity it seeks to serve — becomes just one more powerful way to commit suicide.” ~ inspired by Christian Wiman

Beliefs have concrete & static objects — concentrations of focus that are frozen in mind; self-generated ideals that remain fixed and unmoving. And yet, the life we live is always flowing — and swirling — and pulsing; it is ever falling away and ever being reBorn. As such, it is our clinging to the static objects of belief that therefore draw us away from vibrantly embracing the glorious dance of living — It is our need for the changeless that keeps us from harmonizing powerfully with change.

FAITH, on the other hand, is quite different …

A pure & perfect FAITH has no object at all. Real FAITH is a complete immersion into the present moment — realizing that the Here&Now is the only life we truly possess, and remembering that we are not alive to use that slice of eternity for self-betterment or self-improvement, but are rather here to embrace that moment as a shining & priceless opportunity to bring Peace to another.

Faith, in this sense, is always in motion … It is never hopeful, never trusting, never expecting, never knowing.

Faith is — regardless of what might or might nor come to us as a result — becoming a living embodiment of our Soul … It is ever humble, ever accepting, ever courageous & ever Caring.

Faith has nothing to do with our beliefs … Faith is our Kind & gentle conscience in motion.

Our beliefs keep us isolated on cold & barren mountaintops, while it is our FAITH that has us weeping in gratitude for this great gift of Life …

It is our FAITH that has us standing rapt in awe over the majestic Beauty of the Universe …

and it is our FAITH that has us diving boldly & caringly into the lives of others.

Make no mistake, my Friends, it is this real Faith that provides the only way to our Salvation …

AND make no mistake as well: this real Faith is a verb.
