130/499 … comprehending Contentment (09/26/08)

… resting a bit.

The engraving says, “Good bread, pure water and wine, meat and fish bring complete Contentment.” Personally, I’m not so sure about this one, unless you attach the archetypal meanings to that saying, where “bread” becomes selfless service, “pure water” becomes the connection to one’s Soul, “wine” become unconditional love, and “meat & fish” become the sustenance that come from our Caring interconnection with others.  Now those things do indeed bring complete Contentment!

“Grown men can learn from very little children, for the hearts of little children are pure, and the Great Spirit may show to them many things which older people miss.” ~ Black Elk
