158/499 … crossing the Cross (09/29/08)
Pilgrim-made crosses like these adorned almost every fence we passed along the route. Archetypally, the cross is quite the powerful symbol — representing the union of God, the self & the Soul (along the vertical axis) that a person attains in every moment of raw appreciation (the left) via joyful self-sacrifice (the right).
