012/499 … the Witness of One (09/20/08)
Me looking clean and refreshed after our jaunt through town … “The pilgrim sets aside his mere onlooking and becomes a Witness to perfect Beauty.” ~ from my Camino journal
Me looking clean and refreshed after our jaunt through town … “The pilgrim sets aside his mere onlooking and becomes a Witness to perfect Beauty.” ~ from my Camino journal
We went to the town’s castle ruins on the bluff overlooking St. Jean … Similar visage of old stone next to running water would accompany me for almost the entire length of the Journey. “When we no longer know where to turn, our real Journey has just begun.” ~ Phil Cousineau
Mom journaling in the hostel garden’s lower patio … “A future challenge: to transform every ‘normal moment’ of my life into its own pilgrimage; allowing my personal myth to unfold therein as well.” ~ from my Camino journal
… as typical a pilgrim’s breakfast as last night’s “5-star” dinner was atypical. “Uncover what you long for and you will rediscover who you are … Alter what you long for and you will shift who you are becoming … Release what you long for and you will Become who you’ve always been.” ~ inspired […]
… and we’re off! “Ask where the good road is, the godly paths you used to walk … Travel there, and you will find rest for your Souls.” ~ unknown (Jeremiah 6:16)
Yes, we are still a little sleepy … 😉 “Now is the time to live your ideal life.” ~ Phil Cousineau
… the foothills of the Pyrenees. What a gorgeous start to an amazing Stroll! “Journey forth Faith-fully … Listen humbly & attentively … Follow guidance resolutely … Detach from results completely.” ~ from my Camino journal
… a little sun-bathing break on a bunker overlooking the Path. “It is not what you do, but how you do it.” ~ Epictetus
I believe this view gazes back towards St. Jean, though I’m not certain. Regardless, even though The Way got pretty steep pretty fast, we still flowed smoothly onward … and upward … and inward. “Practice your faith until you know it by Heart.” ~ Phil Cousineau
… up, Up, UP we go! “Lust might thrive on mystery, and yet Love demands honesty to survive.” ~ D. C. Abrahms
Now that is a view! It was interesting how, even here at the very beginning of the Journey, such vistas (which this picture does not do justice) inspired more of a gazing within than a wonderment without. “When you follow your Bliss, doors open where there were no doors before.” ~ Joseph Campbell
