Day 079g: Ever the greater Victor … (July 02, 2019)

When we cannot tolerate the dark, we activate all kinds of artificial lights, including but not limited to sports, drugs, alcohol, shopping, shallow sex, &/or hours in front of the television set or a computer our phones. Greenspan one correctly noted that there are no dark emotions – just unskillful ways of coping with feelings (most of them fear-based) we cannot bear. And these feelings themselves are simply conduits of deeper understanding that want something from us; that want us to wake us up – that want to tell us something we need to remember – that want us to finally break the ice & sludge caked around our hearts and become again the caring & kind beings we once were.” ~ inspired by Barbara Taylor

When I sometimes despair, I choose to remember that all through out history the ways of truth and love and kindness have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and demons on hand, to be sure, and for a time, these forces of shadow can indeed seem invincible. And yet in the end – sometimes after a handful of years and sometimes after but a few days, these agents of selfishness & discord always fall, and are ever replaced by representatives of compassion & justice. Think of it – this has always been the case – always.” ~ via Mahatma Gandhi
