Day 087f: Embracing the Art of Meaning … (July 10, 2019)
It turned out that some wise administrator of the town (the local mayor, perhaps) had decided to make the place a residence for beauty as much as for people, and had commissioned several talented artists to adorn its walls with wonderments …

“After a brief sedentary hiatus, our species is once more resuming its ancient nomadic way of living; not only having the courage to re-explore both our relationships and our immediate surroundings, but also the boldness to go further beyond – the boldness to journey to the stars. In truth, one day our remote descendants of the future, safely arrayed on many worlds throughout the Solar System and beyond, will be unified by their common heritage, by their humble regard for their home planet, and by the knowledge that, whatever other life may be, the only humans in all the Universe came from Earth. They will gaze up from their worlds afar and strain to find Earth’s blue dot in their skies. And they will love it no less for its obscurity and fragility. Indeed, they will almost certainly marvel at how vulnerable the repository of all our potential once was, how perilous our infancy, how humble our beginnings, how close we came to our own then-deserved extinction, and how many rivers of integrity & justice & charity we had to cross before we finally found our way.” ~ inspired by Carl Sagan
