Day 086k: Bustling through Burgos … (July 09, 2019)
Once again, eleven years later, I came to the objectively beautiful Burgos Cathedral. And once again the same was closed to me (and any other pilgrims who didn’t have the ability to pay its entrance fee). What is this “holiness” that denies those who are seeking more sincerely to follow the Way of the Soul? What is this “Christianity” that rejects those who are far more literally walking the Way of Christ? I fittingly notice that the sculptured tympanum above its traditional primary entrance was not only closed for reconstruction, but was also completely missing the arms of Jesus himself …

“The divine mandate to live in the world both justly and charitably, then, is what proscribes every person’s moral summons as being that of a steward. And yet this calling remains both hopeless and devoid of meaning unless it produces the necessary manifestation of active stewardship. And this stewardship is likewise hopeless and meaningless unless it involves bold choices of courage, perseverance, devotion, and humility – none of which to be confused with any personal accomplishment or rewards of intellect (pride) or status (honor) or spirit (salvation). No, stewardship has solely to do with everyday proprieties in the humble interaction with (and therefore heartfelt care of) all created things; especially those beings (human and animal alike) who have been imbued with the spark of awakened life.” ~ inspired by Wendell Berry
