Day 086j: Signs along The Way … (July 09, 2019)

Sometimes the Path proved to be poorly marked and difficult to find or follow, no doubt, and yet by and large the vast majority of its length is signposted rather well* – via symbols or stickers or signs, markers or memorials or murals; allowing the pilgrim to spend less time wondering whether or not he or she is walking the “right way”, and more time focusing on walking that Way rightly …

*Often by the “scallop shell” symbol pictured here, a symbol (along the Camino, at least) that reflected the fact that the many established Camino routes of the world all ultimately merge and arrive together at Santiago, and – more importantly – a symbol that represented the more general Truth that even though we are indeed all walking our own unique journeys through life, those treks are all ultimately seeking the same solace – and all ultimately have the same solution (that being replacing “me” with “we”; replacing callousness with caring).
