Day 086e: Washing away the dust of devolution … (July 09, 2019)
I then suddenly found myself walking next to Terri from Texas (pictured in white on the right) and talking amicably about our mutual disconcert related to over the current over-arching state of humanity – the crystallized fixation with material comforts being gathered and personal needs being met, the increase in individual security purchased at the expense of communal integrity, the almost religious faith being placed in fake news (both “left” and right-leaning) superseding the only way out of our current demise – respectful discourse leading to compassion-based compromise … We then sat together with Lisa (Terri’s sister, on the left, who works in Ethiopia) in the next pathside cafe, and reveled in our peaceful company, while a powerful rainstorm then passed overhead – washing the dust of life away from cantina and pilgrim alike …

“What would happen if, while at home, we stayed fully open to all possibilities rather than get attached to specific, hoped-for outcomes? What if we refused to dread any actual or potential storms? What if we wasted no time ruminating over past transgressions or personal failures? The more we ponder these questions and those like them – questions about how we can cultivate the habit of accepting life as it comes and taking it all on fully; on how we can immerse ourselves most completely in living, as though on vacation all the time – the more we recognize the vapid arbitrariness of the false dichotomy we have been given between life and travel, and the illusory walls that have been erected between others & ourselves.” ~ inspired by Gina Greenlee
