At this early juncture of my time in Roncevalles, I was still without shelter for the night, for the local hospitaleros had made it clear that I would not be allowed to sleep in the town’s only hostel without providing both the requisite monies and acceptable identification (neither of which I was carrying on this – or any other – pilgrimage), and yet even though the church was making visitors pay to turn on the lights and enjoy its illumined Beatty (What?!?), at least there was a fine sofa available therein that I would use as an emergency option (should no other lodging present itself) …

Those who are soulful are courageous, and those who are courageous go headlong. Their life philosophy is not that of insurance companies. Their life philosophy is that of a mountain climber, or a hang-glider, or a surfer, or a pilgrim. And not only along the outside paths do they wander; they venture forth in their innermost wildernesses as well. And yet remember one thing: that being, the art of the leap. Always remain willing to risk it all in any moment for love. Wherever you can find an opportunity to risk for others, never miss it, and you will never be lost.” ~ inspired by Osho
