Day 077a: ALL along The Way … (June 30, 2019)

I woke easily after a decent night’s sleep, enjoy a warm wake-up shower, and then headed over to the neighboring pub (which served, at least at that time, as the hostel’s dining room) for a relaxing later-than-usual breakfast with my fellow pilgrims. Even though they had slept elsewhere last night, Stephane & Pierre (who I first met that morning, and who briefly loaned me his outstanding beret – seen in the accompanying image) joined us as well, and the peace & joy that begins to bubble up from all pilgrims as they near the end of their Walk was palpable … Afterwards I made a point of extending an extra dose of sincere kindness to the relatively gruff innkeeper and actually got a brief-but heartfelt smile from him in return, and then it was time to pack up our gear once more and head off to St. Jean Pied du Port – intending, as I had every day prior on this Great Journey, to bring as much Peace & Joy to others as I could along The Way.

I’m not looking for a road to walk. Rather, I’m looking for a path to alter & amend (and thereby in some manner re-create). For it is intentionally altering &/or amending a road that shapes men; merely walking the same simply appeases them.” ~ via Craig D. Lounsbrough
