Day 087l: Reliving a Re-membering … (July 10, 2019)
The tiny hostel of San Bol was possibly the most amazing place I was blessed to visit/stay during my entire 2008 Camino pilgrimage, and it was one of the very small handful of places I had deeply desired to see again on this one. And on this day that wish was fulfilled, and in its own mysterious way fulfilled in full. For even though the hostel was no longer open during the mid-day hours, and even though it apparently was no longer a donativo, and even though there was no glowing hospitalera there to greet me and welcome me Home, there remained a sacred magic about the place – a glow of profound solace that I could somehow feel radiating from its walls even while first seeing them from a greater distance …

“When you give yourself to places fully, they always give you yourself in return. The more you allow yourself to give to them, the more you allow yourself to know them. And the more you allow yourself to know them, the more they will rightly guide you along subsequent paths – and the more you seed them with an indelible crop of memories that will be waiting for you whenever you might return. Exploring the world is fine & good, no doubt, and yet it is in choosing to give to – and thereby see, and thereby know – the world that the grander life is truly made.” ~ inspired by Rebecca Solnit
