Day 085k: Knowing the real Religion … (July 08, 2019)

Many of the churches I encountered along the Spanish portion of my Walk (especially anytime during the seemingly undefined block of time set aside for mid-afternoon siesta) were closed, and yet thankfully – like here in Espinosa del Camino – there proved to be regular exceptions …

The most important part of any religion isn’t in any church. It’s right down in your own heart. The core of religion – any religion – is in your choice of thoughts, and even more so in the way you decide to act from day to day; in the way you treat the other people you know & encounter. This is the real religion. It’s honesty, and fairness, and humility, and kindness – especially kindness.” ~ via Maud Hart Lovelace
