Day 083e: The Soul of every dog … (July 06, 2019)
Mate & I had a number of intriguing discussions while walking together along The Way, and on this day we happened to begin chatting about reincarnation – with Mate hinting that it provided resolution for the frustrating conundrum of mass injustice (i.e. all the selfish folks – most politicians and many preachers among them – who seem to get away without consequence with causing others loss or pain for their own benefit or comfort) and me cautioning him to not let that unproven hope send him into the all-too-common trap of “Love laziness” – of avoiding caring for others in pain because they “summoned their struggles” in past lifetimes or refusing to stand up to the minions of evil because they “will get what they have coming after they die.” And interestingly enough, just as we are discussing this matter of great potency (and unfortunately great poignancy as well) we passed this house; a domicile that happened to be home quite the pitiful row of dirty sad dogs bound by a series of disturbingly short chains. Did these dogs do something awful in a previous life and therefore “deserve” such a horrible fate? Will their owner suffer commensurately in his own life to come? No matter, I say. We have the opportunity to be kind to all the poorer beings we encounter (regardless of their species) and as such we should always be so …
