Day 083a: Gratitude on The Go … (July 06, 2019)
Most understand that thankfulness is not powerful if offered merely when one arrives at a desired destination, nor is thankfulness potent if offered only when one leaves an unpleasant or boring locale. Real thankfulness indeed has nothing at all to do with either escaping the past or attaining the future – most folks get that gratitude is only worth giving when it is given both wholly in and wholly for the present moment. And yet what many do not yet comprehend is the fact that real gratitude is also not powerfully given for our Here&Now blessings of comfort or success or profit or pleasure. Gratitude becomes profound only when we give it for life itself – for the opportunity, even in moments of pain or fear or hunger or dis-ease, to breathe and to smile and to sigh and to gaze and to see and to know this life. And in that vein, gratitude becomes most powerful of all when we give it in those moments when we are least inclined to do so – when life no longer is about us or our benefit; when we remember that we are here to serve and not be served, that we can serve far more powerfully in times of disquiet &/or suffering, and as such that we evince our greatest gratitude for being alive in those uncomfortable moments – for that is when our kindness & our Love are allowed to shake the Universe …

“Not until your thoughts cease all their flighted branching here and there, not until you abandon all thoughts of seeking for something or getting somewhere, not until your desires become as motionless as a stone submerged in water, will you be on the right road to the Gate … As such I am not interested in having the world revolve around me; that’s far too weak an idea. I rather choose to revolve around the world and try to leave my caring fingerprints everywhere.” ~ inspired by Huang Po & C. Joybell C.
