Day 082r: Victorious into Viana … (July 05, 2019)
It was a long time coming, and yet – after rounding many a bend that seemed only to bend anew and cresting many a hill that only gave glimpse to yet another mini-mountain on the horizon – we finally were allowed to look upon the city of Viana in the distance, and shortly thereafter enter its borders to feel a profound sense of accomplishment at having mastered (at least physically) a not-so-easy day. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t actually our physical arrival in Viana that had me truly appreciating this day’s adventure, as much as it was the positive attitude I had been able to maintain – and often intentionally convey to Mate – during that trek’s many trials of discomfort & their goadings to have me whine or grumble …

“It’s not the appearance that ever makes the man. Rather it’s the man’s choice to walk ever onward that allows him to make a true appearance … In truth, while what we are searching for will indeed determine where we ultimately arrive, it is how we go about searching that will determine whether we actually arrive at all.” ~ inspired by Anthony Liccione & Craig Lounsbrough
