Day 081d: Honing the next Horizon … (July 04, 2019)

I looked over and the adjacent road-sign said only 2 kilometers to the village of Cirauqui, and I was pleasantly surprised to realize – as I turned my head towards the path’s upcoming horizon – that the human eye can indeed see at least that far …

Walking has something in it which animates and heightens one’s ideas – ideas of self, ideas of others, and even ideas of life itself. I can scarcely think when I stay in one place; my body must be set in motion if my mind is to more fully function. The sight of the country, with its succession of beautiful sceneries, releases my Soul and gives me greater courage of thought; hurling me as it were heartlong into the immensity of the visions & objects that comprise Nature herself. And so it is in these moments of travel when my heart, surveying one fellow cosmic citizen after another, unites itself completely and identifies itself with all those encountered … And so I have come to realize that, just as the destiny of every walking man is to immerse himself in the panoramas that surround him — to the point of becoming one with the same and, ultimately, to vanish therein, so it is that the destiny of every living man is to immerse himself in all the fellow beings he meets along the way; allowing their travails to become his own to quench, and making their victories his own to savor.” ~ via Jean-Jacques Rousseau & Frederico Castigliano
