Day 080a: Pulling the polarity of the Pushback … (July 03, 2019)
As was the case far more often than not on this pilgrimage, I woke shortly after going to bed in the hostel’s designated sleeping quarters and headed – this time downstairs – to find a place more secluded in which to rest; in small part to provide more subconscious solace for self, yes, and yet primarily to spare my fellow pilgrims the sonorous rumblings of my probable snoring … And so it was that I slept for several hours on the hostel’s living room sofa, and then woke “for good” quite early – with more than enough time to make Pedro & Carmin their Peace Stone before enjoying yet another wonderful pre-walk breakfast. And while not even the unexpected (and in his case “undeserved”) Peace Stone could warm Pedro more than a little to either me or my Walk, I remained humbly grateful throughout our final sharing, and headed with high spirits back onto The Way – knowing as I did so that any & every Peace Pilgrimage by nature transcends all negativity & naysaying that might be sent in its direction.

“You will do well to shield your enthusiasm from the negativity of others, and always avoid doing nothing just because you are told you can only do little. Simply wake each day and do what you can, and a greater Good will always come into being as a result … In truth, if you are going to make a real difference – if you are going to become a potent Force for Good in this life, then you are going to have to find work worth doing — a selfless cause to challenge you . You are going to have to encounter a reality bigger than yourself. It may not be what others say it should be or what you think it could, but it is always near at hand, and you will see it if you but choose to look. At times, the work you’re called to do will be difficult &/or frustrating, and yet if you press on and do it anyway, you will always feel the purpose behind the pain. You will see how the entire experience at least in some small-but-significant way brought others less suffering &/or more joy, and you will thank God for the entirety of the journey.” ~ inspired by Steve Maraboli & Jeff Goins
