Day 076n: To boldly become the Same … (June 29, 2019)
My long-legged smoothness of gait and unhurried-yet-dogged pace had me arriving in Ostabat well ahead of most other pilgrims today, so I – as had so often been the case – headed first & foremost into the local church to gratefully revel in its calming confines …

“At the start of the journey, part of me had thought I was walking into the wreckage of an ancient Christianity. And yet now that I was long-since underway, my impression had shifted to just how much of that religion’s traditions still remained. Yes, there has been a marked decline of of the sanctity of religion in Europe, and yet here I was – walking a route immersed where it was still possible to cross the continent much like the medieval pilgrims yesteryear: traveling solely on foot, stopping regularly at shrines to rest or renew resolve, and supported by the selfless kindness of others all along the way. Even though the religious beliefs might well have evolved or even fully departed, still was it readily possible to find support & comfort in the pilgrim rites of old.” ~ inspired by Guy Stagg
“You are on a mission to achieve greatness, and no matter what obstacles lie in your path, you will reach your destination. Remember that God’s grace will always be sufficient – if you choose to boldly become the same.” ~ inspired by Amaka I. Nkosazana
