Matthew 19:25-26 … getting to Heaven (01/08/13)

“When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, ‘Who then can be saved?’
Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”
~ Matthew 19:25-26

I’m not here to tell you that there is a Heaven we go to after we die … and I am certainly not here to tell you that there isn’t. I can’t make either of these claims with any certainty — In fact, no one can.

And thank heavens for that uncertainty, for it and it alone is what gives our potential Faith its real Power.

Not the “faith” of the Christian who believes in his personal salvation …

Not the “faith” of the Buddhist who believes in her eventual reincarnation …

Not even the religious “faith” of the atheist who is certain that neither God nor rebirth exist at all.

No, I speak of real FAITH; the Power that wells up from within us in every moment we look our fears and desires calmly in the eye — and then choose to LOVE our enemies anyway.

“The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed … For, in fact, the kingdom of God is already both within and all around you.” ~ Jesus Christ (accurate translation of Luke 17:20-21)
