308/499 … the poverty of luxury (10/18/08)

We didn’t have any cash to pay for a hostel, so we actually spent a night in a hotel.  In this image, Mom & I are sampling what was by far the worst wine we drank the entire trip. At least it came in a pretty bottle … 😉

By the way, I couldn’t rest Peace-fully in our room that night, so got up and tried to sleep on the floor of the hotel’s reading lounge.  A maid found me there, woke me up, and then gave me my own room to sleep in — for free!

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.” ~ Barbara Hall
